Got a question for the FAQ or a question in general, don't hesitate to contact us at web animeprime.com

Q: What do you consider an edit?

A: Please see the EDITING 101 page for details on what Anime´ does and doesn't consider an 'edit', plus our criteria for our editing reports.

Q: What's with the little apostrophe next to Anime in the logo?

A: That's actually a prime (´) symbol. So Anime´ would be read as "anime prime". 'Prime' means the most important, first-rate, excellent and the state of the highest perfection (what we desire all anime releases to be). It also means to equip a person with information, which is one of the goals of Anime´: to inform anime fans of what titles have been edited.

Q: Why do you always say United States, U.S., or North America? There are anime fans in Canada and throughout the world.

A: I know there are. For the most part, when I use the term 'U.S.' or 'America' on this site, it'll refer to the North American anime market (this usually means the United States and Canada as as far as licensing anime is concerned). For other countries, I support the idea of unedited releases there too, but I do not have the time or resources to track releases outside of the U.S. and Canada. Sorry.

Q: What is your position on fansubs?

A: I support them for their intended purpose: To make anime that is otherwise unavailable in English available to English speaking anime fans. I do NOT support them as an alternative to buying anime. Once a title is commercially available in English, fansubs should no longer be traded/sold/used. Even in the instances where a North American company released only an edited version of anime, I reluctantly cannot support fansubs. One of the purposes of this site it to encourage North American companies to release anime unedited, so promoting fansubs as an alternative to the commercial release lessens the impact that our purchasing power has from the involved company's viewpoint. In other words, if a company believes we are placated by obtaining fansubs, they are less likely to worry about lost sales from us and concentrate on the mainstream market that is more tolerant of edits (usually since they aren't aware of them or see animation as 'just for kids').
