Editing Zone Full News for August 2002

Wednesday, August 28th, 2002 The opening shown on the fansubs goes directly from the burning Guts (Gatts) to the Japanese logo. The opening on Media Blasters' Berserk DVDs has a swinging sword between the burning Guts and the Japanese logo. Since Media Blasters didn't replace the Japanese Logo, it seems unlikely that they made this change. Until I get a little more info, I'm not going to write up an editing report right now. New Mach Go Go/Speed Racer in DICs hands The Hollywood Reporter has reported that DIC has acquired the rights to the original edited dub-only Speed Racer episodes, and the NEW Mach Go Go episodes from Japan. Considering DIC's history, this does not bode well for an unedited dual-language release of the new episodes. Read the news blurb HERE. 2002 MANGA AND EVANGELION: DEATH AND REBIRTH Manga has responded to the complaints about their use of the wrong audio and video for their release of Rebirth (see the July 20th news for details). They indicated that they used the material as it was sent to them by Gainax. Regardless of where the change was made, it still means that the Rebirth on the North American Death and Rebirth disc is not the same as the Rebirth seen in Japanese theaters and on all Japanese home video releases. NEW EDITING REPORT: Hellsing Rick Burley has notified me that Pioneer's release of Hellsing has a slightly altered opening used. Whether this was a change done by the Japanese of Pioneer is not known. (editing report removed-see the 8/16/02 news) NEW EDITING REPORT: Bible Black Reported by Moviman, the dub for Kitty's release of Bible Black has some quite noticeable rewrites in it. Hentai or not, all shows deserve accurate subs and dubs. Read the editing report HERE or find it in the 'Full List' link.
