DragonBall GT to be Edited
Proving, once again, that any company is only as good as it's latest release,
Funimation has made some drastic changes to the music and sound
effects for the dub of DragonBall GT and announced they will skip
the first 15 episodes (although they may be released in the future). No
details if these changes will affect the Japanese audio or subtitles,
but it seems dub fans are out of luck. Funimation has made some progress
on doing decent releases for their other recent DragonBall releases and
their other new release, but now seems to be intent on making the same
mistakes they and Saban made when DragonBall Z was first released in North
America. I'll add this information to the DragonBall editing report when
time permits.
RANMA 1/2 Season 7 in the correct
order? As of disc 5, it appears that Viz has
left season 7 of Ranma 1/2 ((Ranma Forever) in its original broadcast
order. Maybe they finally heard the complaints about season 6 (and prior
seasons) and finally did the right thing. I just wish it didn't take them
this long.

COWBOY BEBOP MOVIE NEWS
According to THIS
listing, the Cowboy Bebop movie has been rated "R" by the
MPAA. This would tend to discredit the earlier rumors of this movie being
edited to achieve an "PG-13" rating.

UPDATED EDITING REPORT: NIGHT SHIFT
NURSES Rusty Smith has provided a detailed editing report
for Night Shift Nurses that covers the first three episodes that
CPM has only released in an edited form. Read the updated editing
report HERE
or find it in the 'Full
List' link.
SAINT SEIYA EDITING NEWS
ADV Has confirmed that Saint Seiya will be available in
both an edited dub only version with the title of 'Knights of the Zodiac'
and as an uncut version with the title 'Saint Seiya'. The uncut 'Saint
Seiya' will have both Japanese and English audio and the dub and sub scripts
will reportedly retain the same names, terms, and plot as the original.
The edited 'Knights of the Zodiac' version will only be available in a
heavily edited version (and will be the version shown on television).
As always, we recommend that only the unedited Saint Seiya be purchased.
MANGA DIGS ITSELF A DEEPER HOLE
Unconfirmed news out of Ohayocon (as reported by Anime on DVD) indicates
that Manga might edit out the openings and endings between the
three Read or Die episodes to make a seamless 'movie' (the first
opening and the ending(s) would reportedly be included before and after
the content of the episodes).
Editorial:
Considering Manga's bad track record, their lackluster DVD authoring,
and their inability to listen to their customers (or to interact with
them without insulting or patronizing them), I don't have any trouble
believing they would actually be stupid enough to do this. I, and other
anime fans, cringe when Manga licenses a title, because we know they
don't seem to be capable of putting out even simple titles without making
a mess of some part of it.
Sadly, the mindless masses will probably either not know of these mistakes/changes
or come up with excuses to ignore the flaws in yet another flawed Manga
release.

EDITING REMINDER: Dangaioh
Just a reminder, Manga's upcoming DVD release of Dangaioh
is dub-only and edited, just like their VHS release of this title. Read
the editing report HERE
or find it in the 'Full
List' link.
