NEW EDITING REPORTS! I have added editing reports for Coundown and Can Can Bunny based on information from various people and sources, including forum members on Anime on DVD. The ADV releases omit the mosaic shots of male and female genitalia in all of the Can Can Bunny releases and at least the Countdown Conjoined compilation tape. Read the editing reports here for Coundown and Can Can Bunny or you can find them in the 'Full List' link.

Updated: Based on the Anime Expo news that VIZ is rearranging season 6 of Ranma 1/2 (Random Rhapsody), I looked over my editing report for Ranma and confirmed that the first two discs keep the epsiodes in the right order, but disc 3 of Random Rhapsody uses at least one episode from further into the series (the watermellon beach episode is about 8 episodes early). Unfortunately, the info I have on Viz's upcomming releases aren't very detailed at this point (no epiosde names and only brief descriptions), so I can't go further in the releases to see how out of order they are. Needless to say, I'm unhappy Viz has gone back to completely rearranging their Ranma releases after not doing any major changes to seasons 3-5 (execpt for those episodes they pulled forward to fill the last 2 episoede tape of the 'season'). Read the updated editing report HERE or find it in the 'Full List' link.

Anime Expo 2001: I'm back from Anime Expo 2001 and have had time to do a report on all that saw and learned there. Unfortuantely, its a mixed bag of news: some good news, but some bad news too.

Read the report HERE.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US! Animeprime's NO EDITING ZONE is now one year old!! The actual anniversary date was June 26th, but I was in Europe then and couldn't update the site (stupid phone was hardwired in my Paris hotel... how primitive). Anyway, we've had some successes (less-cut Kite, Sakura Diaries, etc...) and we've seen some horrible decisions by companies (too long to list) that they have yet to be rectify.

Hopefully in the year to come we can see less editing and more anime in as pure of a form as possible. I plan to keep up the battle and hope that you all will too. Whenever you can, insist on getting your anime unedited and unchanged. The alternative is a world filled with inaccurate dubs only DVDs with heavily edited video and stories. And no one wants that, do they?

Anime Expo 2001: I'll be at Anime Expo 2001 this week, so feel free to track me down and shower me with kisses (girls only please) and cash/prizes (both sexes).

But seriously, I'm going to be on the Anime Online and Fanfiction panels from 5pm to 9pm in Live Programming 2 (Hyatt Hotel Beacon Ballroom A-B) on Friday night. Anime Online will discuss the dos and don'ts of making and maintaining a website (with me talking about animeprime.com, of course) and fanfiction will cover my anime fanfiction, of course. Come by and say hi (be prepared to indicate when and where I might know you from, because my memory is like a bucket riddled with bullets from Vash the Stampede or a Microsoft operating system... lots of memory leaks. ;-)

Updated: Thanks to Eirik, I've added a bit to the Neon Genesis Evangelion editing report to cover ADV using different music for the next episode previews in their English dub. Read the updated editing report HERE or find it in the 'Full List' link.

Sakura Diaries News: Reports from A-kon and other places around the web are starting to indicate that ADV appears to be preparing to make the LD version of Sakura Diaries available on sub-only DVD via a pre-order signup (probably on their ADV Fansub line). If and when I get more information, I'll post it here.

More ADV dub casualties: A review of Sorcerous Stabber Orphen on AnimeJump indicates that ADV has, yet again, made some drastic changes to one of their dubs. You can read the AnimeJump review HERE and the editorial on the dub HERE.

This is editing of the worse kind: Changing something that changes the characters and the story itself. Be it video or the dialog, making changes like this is uncalled for and I had hoped that anime companies had left these changes behind. Most companies have, but apparently ADV prefers their stories to the original Japanese story.

I disagree.

I recommend dub watchers who want anime dubs to accurately reflect the original dialog, stories, and characters to e-mail or write to ADV using the contact information available HERE. Please remember to be polite, but be clear that you do not like these changes and tell them it will affect your buying decisions on this and other titles.
