UPDATED EDITING REPORT: Rurouni Kenshin TV In addition to the
previously reported dub changes surrounding a homosexual character, MediaBlasters/Bang
Zoom has altered the Rurouni Kenshin English dub as of episode
67 to change the original 'Son of God' dialog to 'Child of God'. It's
kind of a laughable change, since the volume name containing the first
episodes to use this term is called 'Son of God'. Read the updated editing
report HERE
or find it in the 'Full
List' link.

NEW EDITING REPORT: Here is Greenwood I've been meaning to
do an editing report on this title for a while, but never really managed
to get my hands on the tapes to check out the edits first hand (so I only
have a brief description in this report, if anyone has more details, I'd
appreciate it). The editing report covers the trimming of a scene containing
nudity from Software Sculpture's (now part of CPM) release of Here
is Greeenwood. Read the editing report HERE
or find it in the 'Full
List' link.
NEW EDITING REPORT: DOMINION
TANK POLICE Giaourus Ericus has submitted an editing
report for Dominion Tank Police that covers CPM's changes
to combine four episodes into two and the changes to the ending. Read
the editing report HERE
or find it in the 'Full
List' link.

Changes to Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Seems
like Super Techno Arts (the US division of JoJo's creative studio
A.P.P.P.) will be updating the music and possibly some sound effects
on the original JoJo OVA episodes made about ten years ago as part of
their new release containing these older episodes and new episodes. Also
to avoid potential legal problems, they will be changing some of the rock
star names. I'll post a list when it becomes know, but Abdul will reportedly
be changed to Avdol (since Abdul was named after Paula Abdul apparently).
Seems like a pretty silly change to me, but you can draw your own conclusions.
While the extent of these changes and their effect on the
show won't be known until the episodes are released, it should be noted
that it is the original creators (including the musical composer) of Jojo's
making them.

UPDATED EDITING REPORT: GTO In addition to the previously reported
logo switch, TOKYOPOP has also altered the English AND Japanese
audio tracks on the first (and presumably the rest) GTO DVD. Basically,
they've added some 'zoom-in' and 'clanking' sound effects when their new
animated logo appears at the end of the opening. Read the updated editing
report HERE
or find it in the 'Full
List' link.
Excuse the rant (again):
Considering that TOKYOPOP is leaving their new manga releases unflipped
and sound effects unaltered to save money, I have to wonder why they're
wasting money on totally pointless changes to the OP and audio tracks
like these. It adds NOTHING to the value of the disc and only serves
to mar a otherwise decent disc (except for the missing eyecatches and
lame front-loaded trailers, of course).
End of rant

NEW EDITING REPORT: VANDREAD For some reason (possibly a licensing
issue), Pioneer changed some background music and a song in the
English dub of episode 6 of their release of Vandread. Read the
editing report HERE
or find it in the 'Full
List' link.
DE:VASASY
RUMOR UPDATE It looks like the information about De:Vassay
being edited was FALSE. According to information posted in the
Anime on DVD forums, the title was released as both a mainstream title
and then after a change in laws in Japan, re-released as an adult title
even though it's not explicit. So as far as anyone seems to know, Media
Balster's release of De:Vasasy is unedited.

RUMOR ABOUT DE:VASASY BEING EDITED Although
it's only rumored and no one can seem to confirm or deny the rumor with
100% certainty, there has been some speculation (in the Anime on DVD forums
and Animenation) that Mediablaster's upcoming De:Vasasy
release might have been edited. John Sirabella of Mediablasters
has confirmed that they have not edited it themselves and their release
is the same as the screener they received before licensing it, but the
title seems to be listed as adult/hentai on various Japanese sites.
It may be a case of the Japanese company editing it before
trying trying to sell it to US companies, a mistaken listing, or even
a mix up with another title.
I must stress that this is only a RUMOR, but felt
that potential purchasers deserved to know about the rumored edits. I
will post an update when more details are available.

NEW EDITING REPORT: GTO Looks like TOKYOPOP has omitted
the eyecatches on the North American release of GTO and also replaced
the original GTO logo at the end of the opening with their own. Read the
editing report HERE
or find it in the 'Full
List' link.
Excuse the rant:
Since the original GTO logo was ALREADY in English and in Roman letters,
changing it is one of those things that just makes me scratch my head
and say"'What the F*** were they thinking?" I guess TOKYOPOP
has tons of extra money laying around that they can afford to make completely
unneeded changes like this.
Companies have to stop thinking the way they did in the old VHS days.
If they have to use THEIR logo, put it in the DVD menu and leave the
original logo in the show itself alone.
End of rant
