Description
of what effects the edits/changes had on the original story/plot (opinion)
The dialog changes appear to alter the viewer's perception of the events of the story. Although I can't say for sure how the original story played out to Japanese audiences, unless it was meant as as a hate message against the Jewish people I see no reason Jewish people can't be 'bad guys' in a fictional story. Again, without knowing exactly how the original dialog was used, it's impossible to condemn the changes Manga made or to understand their impact on the story fully. |

Detailed
description of video edits
I've heard, but have not been able to confirm, that some video was edited to remove some anti-Semitic symbols. |
Detailed
description of English subtitle changes
| The sub script on the DVD release (it was never released on subtitled VHS) was also changed to remove anti-Semitic themes and storylines like the dub was. Other events and dialog were changed to remove other possible controversial dialog. |
Detailed
description of English dub changes
| The dub script was changed to remove anti-Semitic themes and storylines, including removing references to 'the worldwide Jewish conspiracy' that was behind the group known as the Red May (which apparently did appear in the orignal). Other events and dialog were changed to remove other possible controversial dialog. |
