Description of what effects the edits/changes had on the original story/plot (opinion)

Unknown at this point, but all signs point to a re-written dub to appeal to a mass market audience. It's sad that Funimation is so two-sided. They are capable of putting out accurately translated and dubbed anime, but they still have people inside their comapny that will do horrible things to titles in order to make a little extra cash (Dragonball GT and Detective Conan are their latest casualties).

The titlechange is just another case of bad lawyers jumping at any little hint of a problem. The 'Conan the Barbarian' franchise can't possibly claim exclusive rights to the name 'Conan' since it is and was a real name used well before anyone with that name put on a loincloth.

The dub name changes make the 'legal' excuse for the series name seem even more suspect.

Detailed description of English subtitle changes
Reportedly, the subtitles will retain the original names and story.
Detailed description of English dub changes
Unknwon at this time, but hiring a scriptwriter used to making up his own story isn't a good sign concidering their other changes and attitude to this show.
Detailed description of name and title changes

The title was reportedly changed to 'Case Closed' for legal reasons.

Some, but not all of the character's names have been changed.
