description of edits/changes:
|
Various video edits, OP/ED changes, and dialog
changes were made to combine three entirely separate TV series into a single
story. The later two thirds of Robotech were drastically changed from the
original TV series they were made from. DETAILED REPORT |

Dimensional Fortress Macross TV Series

Although Animeigo's subtitles were mostly accurate throughout the 36 episodes, they chose to insert movie phrases in place of several lines of translated dialog. One example (out of several that I saw myself or were reported): A line in the original dialog that would translate roughly to "The lives of 50,00 people are more important than the life of one person, right?" (note the number given) was changed to "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one... Right, sir?." (a blatant Star Trek quote). Since the original was perfectly understandable to an English speaker and actually put a direct number on the number of civilians involved, throwing out the line and replacing it with the well known one does tend to change how the viewer perceives that scene. An avoidable blemish on an otherwise unedited release. |
